Life at Brillantmont is not just about learning. It is also about discovering the world around us and having new experiences.
All Brillantmont students are encouraged to sign up for the numerous cultural trips which take place throughout the school year. These may be to hear an opera, to see a ballet, to attend a classical music concert or to go to the theatre. Since Switzerland has many foreigners, there are several cultural events organised in English, which we invite the students to attend.
We also organise trips to see musicals, rock concerts and other big shows which are touring in the area and which we think teenagers will enjoy and we welcome suggestions from the students as to things happening in the area.
Often, teachers will organise class excursions which are related to the subject they are studying. For example, the Italian class may go to see a film in Italian, whilst the French literature class might go and see a play they are studying with their teacher.
International evenings regularly take place in the school to celebrate the diverse cultural origins of our students (for example, Spanish evening, Thanksgiving, Chinese New Year, etc.). Students decorate the dining room, prepare dishes typical of their country and provide entertainment in the form of traditional songs or dances. These evenings of cultural exchange are memorable moments in the life of the school and help us to understand and appreciate each other’s backgrounds.
