100% of our graduating class continue into Higher Education all over the world, with a small minority choosing to take a gap year. We are committed to providing maximum assistance to enable a student to enter the university of his choice.
Preparation for university and college entry begins in the penultimate year, when students are encouraged to think about where they would like to go and which course of study they would like to pursue. Our librarian is on-hand to assist students who wish to access university multimedia materials. Each year various university fairs and Open Days within the region provide further information and universities from all over the world regularly visit Brillantmont to give presentations to groups of potential students. Wherever a student’s choices lie, the school helps them and their families to organise visits either on official Open Days or on an individual basis.
At all stages of the university planning process, students receive completely personalised support from our Deputy Director, assisted by our PSHE teacher. Both provide guidance and a SWIB assessment allows the students to identify their strengths and interests, exploring all possible options. The students learn to set realistic goals and create a plan of action to make sure they achieve those goals. They are closely supported in the preparation of their Personal Statements for university application and also practice the communication skills, interview techniques and role play situations they will need later at the academic interview stage.
